Han Ki-ho, a professor at the Ajou Institute for Unification, told NK News that access to the DPRK websites could encourage healthy debate within South Korean society.

"When North Korea's tourism websites were introduced through ROK media and permitted access during the Kim Young-sam administration, there were no significant negative reactions or concerns from the public," he told NK News.

The expert noted that opening up internal North Korean information is a more sensitive issue for Pyongyang, which is much more protective of its system than Seoul.
